Hi Bonnie

Came across your site and it brought back so many great memories of listening to you with friends "back in the day" ...way back in the '70's.  Just wanted to let you know that some of us are still around and looking forward to you coming out to the west coast.  Any plans?

Memories

December 13, 2009

Greetings and salutations my dear Bonnie. As a way of reintroducing myself, my name is Donn Smith. My London wife, Nicki and I were the manager of the infamous Baggies Rehearsal Studios on Grand and Wooster streets in SOHO NYC?way back when in that fabulous year of 1969. It was a time of great turbulence, remarkable achievements and of course the most wonderful era of music in my lifetime.

I still vividly remember the group of musicians headed of course by Delaney and yourself, as your assembly of stars prepared to tour with Clapton's Blind Faith, a union which produced some musical magic.

?I also remember ferrying your entourage in our fabulous old Post Office step van, with the picture of you all sitting cross legged, against the walls as I traversed and bounced you all uptown on the notorious NYC streets. If only it would have been a different digital age we would have had a collection of photos. AH but no, we had your music!!

I am writing this from my daughter living room. Her name is Holly, and is the first born of our two lovely daughters, the other being Rose. I recall at her birth your wonderful gift of a dozen Roses in that September of 1970 on the day of her birth. Your generosity that day will never be forgotten.

I have been in South America for many of these past 30 years and continuously for the past five. It was only yesterday that I discovered the untimely demise of your partner, Delaney, and it flooded my mind with all of these memories. Of course, I want to send my belated condolences to yourself and your daughters.

I read of the complication he had from a gallbladder operation, a situation we share, as I have been advised to forgo any operation because of the direct connection to the liver where I also have a chronic problem, nominally called HepC. We all share so many things in common, perhaps some from that Golden Age which we both lived and lived in.

In any case congrats on your career, and continued success. If we have the opportunity to see you perform back east here, it would be an honor to hear your melodious soulful notes.

All My Love
